Tax Manager

The Role

We are looking for a new Tax Manager or an experienced Tax Senior Associate with 3 – 4 years of experience and an entrepreneurial spirit excited to join a growing team in a unique setting. With the ability to deliver exceptional client service and outstanding results, the ideal candidate will also have a passion for technology and efficiency and appreciate a firm that values respect, diversity, and personal life balance.

Position: Tax Manager – Full-time 

Location: Toronto (Partially in office) 

Responsibilities: 

  • Leverage firm technology tools including various cloud-based technologies to support the team execution on a wide variety of engagements including tax consulting, tax compliance, and accounting;

  • Expand your knowledge and gain breadth of experience working directly with the firm founder (Owner). Take advantage of her 36+ years of leadership in the Canadian tax market to help clients solve their tax issues, develop strategies to minimize overall tax, and support the delivery of tax consulting projects;

  • Establish relationships with clients, gain a solid understanding of their business, and use your strong communication skills to manage client requests and deliverables;

  • Prepare and review draft technical memos, instructions to legal counsel and clients to execute tax planning ideas and reorganizations; and 

  • Leverage information to proactively deliver tax insights to clients using various data analytic tools. 

Experience

  • CPA designation; 

  • Minimum of 3 - 4 years relevant experience in Canadian tax at either a professional services firm or in industry providing tax and accounting services; 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from University; 

  • Professional accounting designation and enrolled in or have completed completion of the CPA Canada’s Indepth Tax Course; 

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel with Power Query, Powerpoint), CCH Taxprep, Xero or other cloud-based accounting solutions;  

  • Relationship building and leadership skills; and 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
